Sue Crawford Tomlinson, age 63 passed away June thirteenth from complications of diabetes. Sue was born on January 6, 1949 to B.C. and Gayle Crawford. She graduated from Brenham High School and enrolled in Texas A & M, College Station as a member of the first class to admit women. She transferred to University of Houston where she received her Masters degree and most of the work required for her PhD. Sue taught at Lamar College in Port Arthur before coming to Del Mar College in 1988 where she taught until she retired due to her declining health.
Sue was involved in a wide range of activities in Corpus Christi in addition to being an outstanding Professor. She was presented the award for Teaching Excellence from the University of Texas. Sue taught the first on-line English courses at Del Mar and received scores of requests from around the globe for permission to link to the web pages she created.
Besides being an outstanding teacher, Sue was active in local theater at Del Mar College and the Harbor Playhouse in roles ranging from acting to directing many plays and melodramas. She was a founding member of The Celtic Menagerie, a performing Scottish dance group based in Corpus and believed by many to be the best in Texas. Her knowledge and use of stagecraft was in important part of the polish that exemplified Celtic Menagerie performances.
In addition to teaching and theater, Sue was an active member of Covenant Baptist Church in Corpus Christi where she as a source of inspiration to everyone she came in contact with.
Sue had no children of her own but served as a mentor to many children and had a foster daughter, Sandy Allen Pratt, as well as a God Daughter, Shealyn Harris.
Sue was preceded in death by both of her parents.

A graveside service for Sue Crawford Tomlinson will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Prairie Lea Cemetery, with Mr. Mike Habermehl officiating.
