Martha Elizabeth Wendt, 96, of Houston, died December 24, 2009 in Houston. She is the widow of Beauregard A. Wendt Sr. She was born on May 30, 1913 to Alvin Ellsworth Snyder and Nelle (Wise) Snyder, in St. Joseph, Missouri.

She was educated at Benton High School, St Joseph, Missouri, Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota with a B.E. Degree in Education. On October 11, 1940, she married Beauregard A. Wendt in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Martha was a Westminster Class-Grace Presbyterian Church Pianist for 40 years and an active member Women of the Church. She was a member of Col. John Alston Chapter Colonial Dames 17th Century, Samuel Sorrell Chapter D.A.R., LaSalle Chapter D.A.C., James Asbury Tait Chapter #89 Daughters of 1812, West University Chapter O.E.S. and Braes Republican Women.

Survivors include her son Beau A. Wendt Jr. and wife, Sue of Houston, grandchildren; Amy Caroline Wendt, Josh, Justin, April and Matt Ruppert; niece Paulette Snyder of Boca Raton, Florida, and nephew Jerry Wendt and wife, Jan Wendt and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Beauregard A. Wendt Sr., parents A. E. & Nelle Snyder, brothers Paul Wise Snyder and John Russell Snyder.

The family will receive friends and relatives beginning at noon Tuesday until 1:00 p.m., December 29, 2009 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Following there will be a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend David Meriwether officiating. Burial will be in the Prairie Lea Cemetery.
