Floyd B. Grebe, 83, of Brenham, died June 30, 2010, in Trinity Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 3 in St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill with Pastor David Hansen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Grebe, Kevin Luten, William Scott, Howard Grebe, Jerry Vierus, and Pat Gaskamp.

Mr. Grebe was born November 25, 1926, in the Live Oak community of Washington County, Texas, the son of Walter and Ella (Boortz) Grebe. He was baptized February 20, 1927, at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill by Pastor Paul Gogolin and was confirmed May 17, 1942 in the same church by the same pastor.

Mr. Grebe was married to Leona Niemeyer on December 11, 1954, at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill by Pastor Louis Kramer. Mr. Grebe served in the Armed Forces with the 106th Engineer Battalion during the Korean War. He was retired from Bothe Ford and was an automotive and small engine mechanic.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill and attended Live Oak Hill and Mound Hill public schools.

Mr. Grebe is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Lisa Grebe of Brenham; three grandchildren, Brandon Grebe, Lindsey Grebe, Jamie Scott and husband William, step-grandchildren Lindsey Luten and Kevin Luten and fiancé Jennifer White; great-grandchildren Courtney and C. J. Wallace and Mackenzie Smith; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Gladys Niemeyer of Brenham and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Milford and Lucille Niemeyer of Bryan; nephews and nieces, Gary and Connie Niemeyer and Michael and Frances Niemeyer, all of Bryan; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Leona Grebe, on July 11, 2003; father and mother, Walter and Ella Grebe; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Emma Niemeyer, brother-in-law Clarence Niemeyer, and a host of uncles, aunts and cousins.

Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church or to Hospice Brazos Valley. Special thanks are extended to Lindsey Luten for caring for Floyd during his illness.
