Evelyn (Horstmann) Lorenz, 86 of Brenham, the widow of Alvin Lorenz, died in a Bryan Hospital, Friday night.

She was born February 3, 1924 in William Penn, Washington County to Lonnie Horstmann and Selma (Buerger) Horstmann. Evelyn was baptized on March 10, 1924 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church by Rev. H. F. Hellmann, confirmed April 10, 1938 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church at Sandy Hill by Rev. Rudolph Becher.
On December 21, 1941 Evelyn was married to Alvin Lorenz at St. Matthews Lutheran Church by Rev W. C. Poehlmann.

Survivors include; son Charles Wayne Lorenz and wife Elizabeth of Trinity, Texas, Grandchildren: Jody Lee Parks and husband David of Clarksville, Indiana, C. W. Lorenz and wife Jamie of Huntsville, Texas and Tiffany Ann Lorenz of Galveston, Texas. Great grandchildren; Ryan Wayne and Morgan Jean of Clarksville, Indiana, and Colton Parker of Trinity, Texas, Hunter of Huntsville, Texas, Madalyn, Spencer, and Brandon.. Sisters and brothers-in-law Mildred Tiaden and husband John, sisters-in-law Elsie Brennan, LeViola Maass, and Ella Neimann, and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Alvin Lorenz, parents, Lonnie and Selma Horstmann, a granddaughter Sherry Lynn Lorenz and an infant sister Gladys Marie Horstmann, sister and brother-in-law Ervin and LaVerna Kuecker, Brother-in-law Ted Neimann.

Funeral services are for Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham with Pastor Lawrence Bade and Pastor Phil Fenton officiating, interment in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be at 5:30 to 7:30 Monday, at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Radio Ministry.

Pallbearers are; Ryan Parks, Robert Klingsporn, Garral Tiaden, Ron Kuecker, Mark Kuecker and Todd Ostrominski. Honorary Pallbearers are Mr. & Mrs. Herbert Janner, Mr. & Mrs. David Nowicki, Mr. & Mrs. Don Studhalter, Mr. August Pahmiyer, Mr. & Mrs. Delphine Stoelke, Mr. & Mrs. Lonnie Tiemann, Mr.& Mrs. Karl Hassenbrock, Mr. & Mrs. Wilbert Horstmann, Mrs. Anita Oberhoff, Mrs. Eleanor Tielke, Mrs. Dorcile Badke, Mrs. Gertrude Hohlt, Mr. Arthur Fuelberg, Mr. & Mrs. Alfred Weiss, and Mrs. Ruby Naumann.
